This guy was selling wallets that he makes from kevlar racing sails. He uses scraps from a sail making company to make these wallets. They look and feel almost indestructible! He had quite the sales pitch but I couldn't find a use for a wallet made of kevlar racing sail material. They still look cool though.
My favorite table belonged to, the one and only, Sandwich. She was making neck gaiters (face and neck warmers) with mustaches, beards and mouths on them. They look so so funny! Here are some pictures of people wearing different gaiters. First is Sandwich in the one with the mouth.
Here is her booth. She had the sewing machine so she could make alterations and also make custom mustaches for people. It was so great!
Here are some more shots of people in funny gaiters!
After the Craft Fair, I went on a guided trip out to a site called the "Pegasus Crash Site." In 1970, an airplane called "The Pegasus" was trying to land near McMurdo in near whiteout conditions. After many attempts, they had to crash land because they had no more fuel. While there were a few injuries, no one died. We were able to climb around on the plane and take pictures of the crash site. I don't know why they have left it out here for over 40 years. Seems to me that they should just clean it up and take it away. However, it is an historical site and was a pretty significant event. Anyway, here are some shots from that trip.
Here you can see the body and the tail. This was taken from the nose of the plane.
The sun was looking fantastic over the mountains!
Me on the tail of the plane.
Me on the body of the plane.
On the tail again.
We dug out some of the windows. Here I am (somewhat) inside the plane.
PEGASUS!
This was taken from inside the cockpit.
On top of the plane after we exposed the US Navy logo.
Me inside another hole inside the plane.
Anyone from Minnesota should recognize this bumper sticker! I couldn't believe it! 93X ROCKS! Or so they say :)
Look at the size of those wheels!
After the trip out to the Pegasus Crash Site, I went on a hike up Ob Hill. I love it up there! It is so beautiful. Here is McMurdo sans snow. Since all the snow has been melting, we have been calling it McMud-O.
Mt. Erebus.
It was another amazing day here in Antarctica.
