Well, it was a beautiful day today and we finally got our Pisten Bully back from the shop...so you know what that means....FISHING! We took off towards Cape Evans Wall today. One thing that we got to see (which is so impressive to see in real life) was some really phenomenal fata morgana. That is a mirage or optical illusion that happens when there are two layers of air that are at different temperatures. As light travels from one temp to another, the light gets bent in an extreme angle and creates incredible mirages that look like huge cliffs! The coolest thing about fata morgana is that is actually shows up in pictures! Everything you see to the left of the large black island that looks really flat and dark is a mirage!

Here I am, just hanging out in the back of the PB on our long commute out to Cape Evans Wall.

Because the weather was so amazing, we stopped to take some really great pictures of Mt. Erebus. We can always tell the weather by looking at the smoke coming out of Mt. Erebus. Today, there was no wind at all so the smoke was going straight up!

Next, we stopped to check out the field camp for the seal team, B-009. They live out near Big Razorback island all season. Here is their field camp.

And here is "The Center for Excellence." The name of the hut that has their toilets in it!

Here is Big Razorback island from up close with Mt. Erebus smoking in the background.

And here is Brad giving the "Thumbs Up!" He calls this side of Big Razorback, "Antarctica's Thumbs Up!"

And of course, we actually did do some fishing! Here is me catching a beautiful "Bork."
