Next, we had to get ready to do some more fishing. One of the ways that we get our fish is by using traps. We had pull our traps out of storage first. Here is me opening up our cargo box with fish traps in it.
Next, it was off to the fish hut again. We decided to stop for a moment to pose for a team photo.
Now, for this next photo, I will have to give some back story. I play goalie on a futsal team in Portland. This summer, we won the championship for our division. My teammates sent the trophy down with me to Antarctica so I could take some pictures of it down here. You will probably see it pop up more than once! Here are the first two shots of the trophy just hanging out on the sea ice with McMurdo in the background.
Next, we jumped right back into fishing! Barbie has been pretty good to me so far this season. And maybe fishing with the trophy gave me some good luck too!
Unfortunately, we all had some issues with our line on our poles so we decided to stop fishing and just drop our trap. Normally we just use chunks of fish as our bait but we don't have any of that yet. So we just improvised and went to the galley and got some hot dogs!
And here we are dropping our trap. We even put a glow stick in in to try to entice the fish even more!
And of course, one more great shot of the trophy! There will be many more to come :) It was another amazing day here in Antarctica.
