Wow, what can I say? It was another incredible day here at McMurdo station. There are going to be a lot of pictures in this post so I want to prepare you for that. But before any of that, I want introduce you all to our full team. Finally, all together, this is our team. We are known as B-308. From left to right: Isaac, Sandwich, Marissa, Brad and Me (Dan).

You know that it is Summer in McMurdo when the helicopters start flying. The sea ice is melting and cracking so much differently than it has in the past. Because of this, we may not be able to access our previous fishing sights. Therefore, we may have to fly in helicopters to get there. It is not certain yet, but we are hopeful.

We spend the morning setting up our laboratory. I will post pictures of it once it is fully set up. After working through the morning, we decided to go fishing just off the shore after dinner for some "family bonding time." We just carried our fishing gear out to the fish hut and dropped some lines in.

The most exciting part of our fishing trip was that Marissa had never been fishing in her life. Of course, she was the first person on our team to catch a fish. And of the five fish that we caught, she caught three of them! I caught the second fish and Sandwich caught the fourth fish. We had so much fun fishing and we are really excited to get out there again!

After walking the fish back, we put them into their holding tanks that have sea water pumped directly into them and also pumped right back into the ocean so that we can maintain the cold water that the fish need to survive.

After making sure our fish were nice and happy, Marissa and I went for a hike up Observation Hill. It is a quick hike just outside of McMurdo and we got some amazing views of the sunset.

This picture is of the New Zealand Antarctic base called Scott Base. All their buildings are green. There are only about 40-50 people on the station.

These three windmills on McMurdo supply all the power for the New Zealand base and McMurdo gets to use the excess power.

Here is the best picture of McMurdo that I have taken so far.

And here are my "hero" pictures at the top of Observation Hill. It was a phenomenal day.
